Home > Accommodation in Vale of White Horse Oxford > Abbey Guest House
Terry and her husband, Peter, would like to welcome you to Abingdon and their non-smoking home. Their family home is situated on the northern approach road into the centre of Abingdon and is able to provide a friendly 'home from home' atmosphere. Guests with disabilities are welcomed – although we are not able to accommodate the largest wheelchairs. Guests requiring special facilities are encouraged to download our ‘Disability Information Sheet’ from the Abbey Guest House website where the full (17 page) Access Statement is also available.
As we are virtually on the main road, the bus stops for travel to and from the centre of Oxford, Culham, Didcot, Marcham, Milton Park, etc. are only yards from the front door! The journey into the centre of Oxford by bus takes around 20 minutes and most days of the week the service runs every 5-10 minutes. (Please be aware that Oxford does not welcome cars and encourages visitors to use buses or their 'Park & Ride' facility.)
Although the house is situated on a main road, it is set back on a service road and has a number of trees screening it from the road thereby ensuring that it is fairly quiet. There is parking on the drive to the house and we respectfully ask our guests to use it or the road immediately outside the house; please do not to park in front of any neighbouring house.
The accommodation consists of one single room, one ground floor twin room (that can also be used by guests with mobility problems), two double rooms and one twin/triple room (all with en-suite shower rooms). Variations on each room can be seen on the main web site as most of the rooms have sufficient space to add another bed to accommodate a child or another adult if required.
All rooms have digital TV, the usual tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, small personal security safe as well as free WiFi Internet access. A computer with web access is available for guests' use in the guest lounge.
There are two local pubs within 400 yards of the house that both offer good quality food for evening meals; a 10/15-minute walk into the centre of Abingdon town gives visitors access to numerous and various other restaurants and pubs as well as several places of historic interest.
Bookings can be made by telephone, email, or direct via the website where real-time availability can always be checked. All major debit and credit cards are accepted but it is regretted that cheques are no longer acceptable. Our main telephone number (+44 [0] 1235 537020) is also a fax and answerphone, and the mobile number (+44 [0]7976 627252) is available when the house telephone is not answered.

By Bus: Get either the X2, X3, X4 or the X13 bus from Oxford. Once off the bus, cross over the road and walk in the same direction the bus was travelling. In front of you, you will see the bus stop (again labelled 'South Avenue') for travelling back to Oxford. This stop is right in front of the house (Number 136) - albeit that there is a little slip road and a grass verge in-between!
By Train: The most convenient train station is Oxford and trains go there from London, Birmingham, etc. Pick up the X3 bus from the station forecourt.
By Plane: Whether flying into Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton or Stansted, the easiest way to get to Abingdon by public transport is to take a bus or coach to Oxford from the airport.
