The Vale is reknowned for the quality of its food and drink sector and have businesses from all sectors: growers, farmers markets, manufacturers, retail, foodservice and award-winning cafes, delis and restaurants.

'Fruits of the land' are plentiful here, so a wide range of locally produced delicacies are available from the traditional Farmers' Markets which are held in Faringdon (Tuesdays), Abingdon (Fridays) and Wantage (Wednesdays and Saturdays). These markets offer local produce and home made food.  There are also a number of excellent farm shops in the area including the award-winning Milletts Farm Shop near Abingdon. 

Oxfordshire County Council are leading a countywide initiative to cut carbon emissions and reduce waste.You can do your bit by buying food and drink from your local farmers’ market, farm shops and delis. French markets are also increasingly common.These markets offer traditional French food including bread, cheeses, olives and crepes.

The Vale is also full of pubs and restaurants that offer excellent food and drink. Many of our pubs and restaurants are by the river.  There are a fantastic selection of 'eateries' and restaurants in our market towns too.  Try Saddlers and the Market Inn in Faringdon, or the Blue Boar or Bell inn (Wantage).
