An exhibition of quality prints, paintings and crafts by Oxfordshire artists
The Vale & Downland's galleries regularly showcase the work of local professional artists and craftspeople. In the weeks before Christmas, and for a short time afterwards, the museum is hosting a special exhibition called 'A Gift to Delight'. It's called that for two reasons. Firstly, because it includes prints, paintings, textiles and crafts suitable to be given as Christmas presents. And secondly, because it's a celebration of the artists' own creative gifts - their talents.
'A Gift to Delight' features a diverse collection of work from about 20 artists. This is matched by a wide range of prices, with something to suit most pockets. The exhibition includes work by Paul and Kate Kessling, Anna Dillon and other well known local artists. With the economic chill in mind, some will be exhibiting signed prints rather than originals, thus making their work more affordable.
There will also be delightful festive wreaths and seasonal decorations by Helen Jacobs from The Bullpen Arts Centre, jewellery by Elaine Newson, textile pictures by Amanda Hislop and Jill Cooper, ceramic and textile pictures by Cookie Scottern, mosaics by Debbie Howard, small sculptures by Juliet Dyer and much more.
'A Gift to Delight' runs from the 25th November until the 9th January. It will be worth visiting more than once, because items will be removed from the exhibition as soon as they are sold and new works of art will be put in their place.
