Creative Arts provide individuals with an opportunity to express thoughts, feelings and emotion, and explore their creativity.
Charlton Daytime Support, which is part of Oxfordshire County Councils Social and Community Service Directorate, holds Creative Art Workshops each Friday at the Red Cross Hall in Wantage. Here, adults who have a learning disability have the opportunity to experience art through a variety of mediums. The inspiration behind these workshops can be anything from everyday life, the environment around us, and even other artwork. In these sessions, sculpture, paintings, hangings, drawings, drama and dance have been explored, so the project is always evolving.
Individuals who participate in the workshops have created artwork for an exhibition at the Vale & Downland Museum. Many different media have been used to put these pieces together. Some of the work has been a collaboration with artists and individuals within the local community. The work on display is part of the group’s latest project aimed at creating large scale art influenced by various cultures from around the world, giving the onlooker ‘Visions from Afar’.
